It is quite humbling to find yourself capsized from your own thought, wondering if any direction is obtainable as you find nothing but whirls of consciousness engulfing you within the folds of ecstasy and happiness.
Perhaps I had it wrong the whole time. I was under the assumption that Photography can be presented as Art, however, Rowynn Dumont's body of work has shown me that Art itself can be presented as Photography.
I've always been a sucker for mental orgasms, seriously, even though the flesh that harbors the sweat of a being in motion entrances every fiber of my being, it is the mind of a person exploding onto the canvas that fills me with life, Completely.
Rowynn's work endeavors on a quest to meld all barriers of time into a single perspective, haunting realizations that we are all dead inside until the moment that we are awakened by the glory of the human experience.
I look at the wet plates and photographs that they present to all of those who dare sit still long enough to be thrown into a fire of complete ice. It burns away all preconceived notions of what our ancestors must have thought when looking deadpan into the camera.
Rowynn has a knack for directing their visions into incomplete stories, broken just enough to be perfect within our own interpretations. I am proud to present Rowynn to 86 Orchard.
Their work is something you cannot get anywhere else, honesty mixed with illusion.
